Draft law would begin German hard coal phaseout in 2020

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享Platts:Germany plans to close 4 GW of hard coal-fired plants via a first annual compensation auction in June 2020, an energy ministry spokeswoman told S&P Global Platts Tuesday.Compensation for closures is to be awarded to bidders offering the lowest cost of avoided CO2 emissions with winning plants set to close after winter 2020/21. The federal grid regulator BNetzA is set to run the auctions, according to a second draft leaked Tuesday. The ministry is finalizing a hard coal exit law to cap hard coal capacity at 15 GW by end-2022. Assuming Datteln 4 comes online, Germany will have around 22 GW of hard coal capacity in operation as the compensation auctions get underway. The BNetzA is to establish exact volumes required to hit the 15 GW target depending on other closure applications, the outcome of various capacity reserve auctions and startup of Uniper’s 1.1 GW Datteln 4 plant. Commissioning of Datteln 4 is foreseen for summer 2020.Closure auctions thereafter are set to run annually until 2026, with hard coal capacity declining to 8 GW by end-2030.Details on 3 GW of lignite closures are expected at a later stage, with Eur40 billion ($44 billion) of support for lignite mining regions already approved. Indy 500 This Sunday – PREDICTIONS!

first_imgHere are the drivers for this year’s Indianapolis 500 auto race, to be held on Sunday, May 25th:  predictions? I’ll make three, just for the fun of it:1) Will Power – he’s on a hot streak and tops among all Indy drivers for the year. This year’s field is wide open, so the driver with the momentum should be favored.2) Helio Castroneves – Two reasons he has a great chance to win it:  1- Experience (he’s got three Indy titles already) and 2 – A state-of-the-art car3) Marco Andretti – The Andretti curse (45 years) is one of the longest in sports. Since Mario won Indy in 1969, the Andrettis have not been able to shake the Indy jinx. Grandson’ Marco’s got a strong chance to break the streak. 1 Ed  Carpenter Chevrolet 20 231.067 mph2 James Hinchcliffe Honda 27 230.839 mph3 Will Power Chevrolet 12 230.697 mph4 Helio Castroneves Chevrolet 3 230.649 mph5 Simon Pagenaud Honda 77 230.614 mph6 Marco Andretti Honda 25 230.544 mph7 Carlos Munoz Honda 34 230.146 mph8 Josef Newgarden Honda 67 229.893 mph9 JR Hildebrand Chevrolet 21 228.726 mph10 Juan Pablo Montoya Chevrolet 2 231.007 mph11 Scott Dixon Chevrolet 9 230.928 mph12 Kurt Busch Honda 26 230.782 mph13 Jack Hawksworth Honda 98 230.506 mph14 Justin Wilson Honda 19 230.256 mph15 Mikhail Aleshin Honda 7 230.049 mph16 Tony Kanaan Chevrolet 10 229.922 mph17 Sebastien Bourdais Chevrolet 11 229.847 mph18 Oriol Servia Honda 16 229.752 mph19 Ryan Hunter-Reay Honda 28 229.719 mph20 Graham Rahal Honda 15 229.628 mph21 Carlos Huertas Honda 18 229.251 mph22 Pippa Mann Honda 63 229.223 mph23 Takuma Sato Honda 14 229.201 mph24 Alex Tagliani Honda 68 229.148 mph25 Townsend Bell Honda 6 229.009 mph26 Charlie Kimball Chevrolet 83 228.953 mph27 Jacques Villeneuve Honda 5 228.949 mph28 James Davison Chevrolet 33 228.865 mph29 Martin Plowman Honda 41 228.814 mph30 Ryan Briscoe Chevrolet 8 228.713 mph31 Sage Karam Chevrolet 22 228.436 mph32 Sebastian Saavedra Chevrolet 17 228.088 mph33 Buddy Lazier Chevrolet 91 227.920 mphTweetPinShare0 Shareslast_img read more
