The park around the Lužnica castle in Zaprešić, by the decision of the Zagreb County Assembly, was declared a protected area in the category of monuments of park architecture. The park is designed in the English park style with the influence of a French late baroque garden with shaped hedges along the colorful flower beds. Within the park on the southwest side, a lake rich in flora and fauna with two groves in the immediate vicinity stands out. The whole park is dominated by solitary trees, groups of trees, groves, while on the north side the landscape design of the park is dominated by shrubby species and flower beds of small roses (the influence of the late Baroque, French ground floor is visible). The tree line borders the eastern border to the entrance to the park. In front of the castle on the north side is a magnificent plane tree over 300 years old. Lužnica Castle was built in the second half of the 18th century and is an example of a multi-winged open castle and has the status of a cultural monument of the first category. No decision to join ALBA Bank just yet- PM Skerrit

first_img Share Sharing is caring! Hon. Roosevelt SkerritPrime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says no decision has been taken just yet for Dominica to join the ALBA Bank. His comment comes on the heels of reports that Latin American and Caribbean countries agreed on Sunday to deposit 1 percent of their international reserves into a jointly administered development bank as they seek to deepen economic cooperation.Officials announced the decision as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez hosted leaders of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, ALBA, at a meeting in Caracas at the weekend. The new bank will provide financing for economic development projects however it’s unclear how much in all the countries plan to deposit in the bank, or how the funds will be administered.Mr. Skerrit says government has been reviewing the document and a decision could be taken in the next few weeks.“It is a bank that we support fully. We haven’t taken any loans from the bank as yet but we have received grants from the ALBA arrangements. I believe it’s an important institution that has demonstrated its ability to addressing a number of issues, that governments within the ALBA framework have been facing,” he explained.According to the Prime Minister, the bank provides loans at 1 and 2%, “at a time when the world’s economy is in a serious state of affairs, it is a very attractive preposition”.Dominica Vibes News Share Sharecenter_img Tweet LocalNews No decision to join ALBA Bank just yet- PM Skerrit by: – February 7, 2012 187 Views   no discussionslast_img read more

Kasuza strikes half-century as Zimbabwe hold control

first_img(REUTERS) – OPENER Kevin Kasuza struck a half-century on debut as Zimbabwe eased to 189 for two at the close on the opening day of the first test against Sri Lanka in Harare on Sunday. The test is Zimbabwe’s first since November 2018, when they drew a series 1-1 in Bangladesh, and despite a slow run-rate, they laid a platform for a big score.Craig Ervine (55 not out) and Brendan Taylor (13 not out) will resume on day two, with 84 overs bowled before bad light brought a premature end to the first day.Kasuza (63) put on 96 for the first wicket with Prince Masvaure (55), who also struck a maiden test half-century in his third game.Ervine reached that milestone as well and it is the first time in Zimbabwe’s test history that their top three batsmen have passed 50 in the same innings.Masvaure was the first wicket to fall when he was caught by a diving Dimuth Karunaratne at mid-off from the left-arm spin of Lasith Embuldeniya.Kasuza’s 214-ball vigil ended when he played around a full toss from fast bowler Lahiru Kumara and was adjudged lbw.Kasuza is one of three debutants in the side along with seamer Victor Nyauchi and left-arm spinner Ainsley Ndlovu.Zimbabwe are returning to international action having missed most of 2019 due to a suspension from the International Cricket Council over government interference in the running of the game. The country’s Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) had suspended Zimbabwe Cricket, blaming it for maladministration following the national team’s failure to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in England. The two-test tour by Sri Lanka was hastily arranged, having only been announced on Jan. 8.The second test will also be played at the Harare Sports Club starting on Jan. 27.last_img read more
