In a nutshell… if you really know WHO someone is, then you will be able to better deliver what they are looking for. This just makes logical sense. When creating a buying persona for a credit union or bank client, we like to start slowly, focusing on 2-3 targets first. Afterall, you have to walk before you can run. continue reading »

Real host PSG on Wednesday before travelling to the French capital for the return on March 6.The French side have invested huge sums notably to sign Neymar as they chase the dream of winning the Champions League, although they have not made it beyond the quarter-finals since the Qatari takeover of the club in 2011.“Respect is gained and history is made on the field,” admitted Brazilian defender Marquinhos.“It is not easy to win a competition like this. We need to go through a lot of things on the way, but each season, and every day that goes by, we are working and getting closer to our objective.”Share on: WhatsApp Madrid, Spain | AFP | Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery believes his side can benefit from the memory of last year’s stinging defeat to Barcelona when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.“Perhaps our preparation began with that match. We have not talked about it a lot but we have spoken very clearly about what happened,” Emery said at a press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday ahead of the last 16, first leg.“We have learnt a lot. I think we are better prepared now and ready to compete.”The memory of last year’s tie — when PSG collapsed late on to lose 6-1 at the Camp Nou having won 4-0 at home in the first leg — continues to haunt the French club, but they see this tie with the defending champions as an opportunity.“This is a chance for us to keep growing as a club by playing against the reigning champions and the team that has won the most titles. We want to get to that level,” Emery added.
The L.V. Rogers Bombers once again make it look easy in defending its Kootenay High School Rugby Zone title with a convincing 58-10 victory over the Selkirk Storm from Kimberley Wednesday afternoon at the Lakeside Pitch. However, the joy of victory quickly turned sour as the Bombers lost a few more key players from an already depleted lineup.“It was a good game for us but we suffered another ankle injury and one of our players (Jake Lock) may have broken his hand,” said Bomber coach Michael Joyce. The Bombers probably lost key player John Katountas for the season with an ankle injury while Simon Yole also did not play in the zone final.Jake Lock was off to the hospital to get x-rays on his injury hand. The Bombers, undefeated against Kootenay opposition this season, rode the strong play of Lock and Louis Locksnik to a 27-10 halftime lead. In the second half the Bombers played better on the defensive side of the ball as the hosts piled on more points.Lock finished the contest with three tries while Louis Locksnik added two major scores. The Bombers now advance to the B.C. Rugby Championships May 30 to June 2.First up for the seventh-ranked Bombers — the highest ranking for a rugby team from LVR — in the recent AA poll, is the tenth-ranked team. The game, against a still to be determined opponent, is being played Saturday, May 26 in Kelowna.LVR then travels to Abbotsford for the remainder of the provincial tournament in Abbotsford.“It’s disheartening for sure,” Joyce said when asked about all the injuries on the eve of the provincials.“You definitely would like to go to provincials with the team that got you there.””But we practice (Thursday) so we’ll get out on the pitch to start to prepare for provincials,” he added.
17 July 2015A heritage tourism route tracing the journey of Nelson Mandela in the Western Cape will be submitted to Cabinet for approval next month. The provincial minister of economic opportunities, Alan Winde, said yesterday that as part of the province’s growth strategy, entitled Project Khulisa, a series of initiatives were being proposed to boost Western Cape’s heritage tourism offering.Five sites had been identified for the proposed Mandela journey: Robben Island, Pollsmoor Prison, Drakenstein Correctional Centre, City Hall and Parliament. The proposal would be included in an action plan aimed at growing the tourism industry in the province.“Project Khulisa has shown that under a high-growth scenario we can increase the economic contribution of the tourism sector by up to R28-billion from R17-billion,” Winde said.“Under this same scenario, it could add up to 100 000 formal jobs. Currently, 204 000 residents are formally employed in the tourism sector.”The proposal stemmed from South African Tourism’s mobile app, which was based on the “Madiba-inspired tourism attractions” map, he explained.“The map was launched in 2014 to encourage local and international tourists to walk in the footsteps of Madiba.”Source: News24Wire

We asked Cavanaugh about Lotus becoming more like a platform. In its current form it seems more like a network of apps. He said IBM reacts negatively to the thought of a platform as thy believe they have evolved into a closed concept. He said you have to buy this stack and it has to run on this stack. “We talk of it generally as a social business framework with cross product APIs,” he sad. “We committed to adding the embedded aspects of OpenSocial for shared experiences with Sharebox, which integrates different widgets. IBM executives have been talking quite a bit about open standards. They cite HTML 5 as of importance.Cavanaugh said It used to be you could not do rapid development on the browser. But that is changing.WebKit browser brought along HTML 5. We have a broad standards effort. We get our say at the table. We are pushing state of the art. The standards efforts become discussions that come down to the details of implementation. “I find it hard to come up with all encompassing set of themes,” Cavanaugh said. “I think there is a vision of offline. We have had the richest offline experience of anyone in the industry.”Years ago Cavanaugh had a discussion with a group of Japanese experts in mobile technology. They said you have to think of the tunnel problems. They meant train tunnels. Others articulate it as the plane problem. So connectivity is getting more common but it is not 100%.Social business is still in the adoption stage but Cavanaugh said IBM has passed the tipping point and others are doing so, too.On the topic of activity streams, Cavanaugh agrees that they are becoming a standard for the archetypical modern application. The community has benefitted from RSS and Atom. Consumer apps like Facebook have taught a whole generation of people to interact with a stream of content. In the business world that stream will be richer. You might comment on a colleague’s engineer design. You may mark an edit. You combine these streams with analytics and you both avoid information overflow and you recognize patterns in activity streams. IBM Lotusphere is now just getting underway. We have always put people at the center of the process. Social business is not about shuffling documents. It’s about people.8:37 EST: IBM will offer a social framework and it seeks to catalyze the community. If you are a developer, you need to develop a new generation of solutions. Open standards will be mor important than ever. Social business is open and transparent but needs to be augmented with enterprise grade security. IBM will dramatically bolster the depth of capabilities that offers innovation in such areas as unified communications. 8:40 A.M EST It is your time, Rennie says. The People’s Union for Democratic Rights, a Delhi-based civil liberties and democratic rights organisation, has expressed concern over “intimidation and death threats to public-spirited individuals and professionals in the Niyamgiri region by the office of the Superintendent of Police, Kalahandi”.In a statement, the PUDR said that Padmanabha Choudhury, a journalist, had been invited by the villagers to cover a meeting on Forest Rights Act at Laptaguda in Chatrapur panchayat in Lanjigarh block of the district on June 17. Policemen visited him at his house that very evening and asked him to accompany them to the Lanjigarh police station, alleging that he had attended a Maoist meeting.“Mr. Chaudhury’s motorcycle key was forcibly taken from him and the vehicle detained at the police station. He waited two days to meet the superintendent of police in his office. On June 19, the SP interrogated him and began abusing him in filthy language… He [Mr. Chaudhury] repeatedly informed him that the meeting was a discussion on FRAand that the villagers are planning to meet the district magistrate too. The SP did not heed his explanation, but threatened to beat him with a plastic cable, and threatened to have him killed in an encounter if he argued about why he attended the Maoist meeting,” the PUDR statement said.“Most shaken and tense with these threats and intimidation by the SP to go yet again to his office, the journalist reached the State Human Rights Commission in Bhubaneswar and registered a complaint stating that he is in fear of his safety and his life.”The PUDR statement, signed by its secretaries — Deepika Tandon and Shahana Bhattacharya — said that Mr. Chaudhury’s intimidation forms part of the relentless harassment, custodial violence and illegal detentions of people of Niyamgiri for resisting bauxite mining by Vedanta in their hills.“Previously, the Kalahandi police and administration have targeted British Kumar, a youth leader of the Khandualamli Suraksha Samiti and Bhumi Adhikaar Suraksha Samiti, Lingaraj Azad and Lada Sikaka, members of Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti, on allegations of association with Maoists, while they attempt to assert their constitutional rights and bring attention to the ongoing rights violations and repression in the area,” said the PUDR statement. The organisation said that in 2013, 12 gram sabhas in the area had unanimously rejected bauxite mining by Vedanta in the Niyamgiri hills pursuant to a Supreme Court order. Instead of implementing the verdict of the Supreme Court and the decision of the gram sabhas under the FRA, the Odisha government is using targeted persecution of locals and journalists to crush opposition to the project, it added. The PUDR demanded that the Odisha government should initiate action against the SP for targeted intimidation of the journalist and local activists and end violation of democratic rights of the people of Niyamgiri and those seeking to expose the ongoing human rights violations in the area.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Yunus Social Business, Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Unite, and U.S. President Bill Clinton, founder of the Clinton Foundation, announced last Sunday the launch of a new social initiative called Haiti Forest. The partnership aims to solve social and environmental problems in Haiti by bringing sustainable, productive and socially responsible forests to the country.Ten thousand hectares of land are being promised by the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment to develop the new, bold Haiti Forest Initiative in the Artibonite and northern part of the country. Haiti Forest has full support of the Government of Haiti and is in line with the priorities of the Government to support long-term reconstruction efforts, especially those that create jobs and promoting economic opportunities. The multi-year project will provide affordable food, timber, and employment in Haiti, and will be organized as a Social Business – a company set-up for maximizing social benefit rather than private profit.“I am pleased that my Foundation is working with Yunus Social Business and Virgin Unite,” said President Bill Clinton. “Through this partnership, we hope to create a replicable model for programs that demonstrate long-term, positive social and environmental impact as well as economic benefits across Haiti.”“Haiti Forest is an example how social business represents a unique opportunity to drive economic growth in Haiti,” said Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Yunus Social Business. “Social Businesses like Haiti Forest that are aimed at an environmental or social need represent not only the solutions to these pressing issues, but the financially sustainable means for continued development in Haiti.”“Virgin Unite is very pleased to partner with the Yunus Social Business Initiative and the Clinton Foundation to invest in supporting entrepreneurial solutions to generate reforestation and sustainable livelihoods in Haiti,” said Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Unite. “This project will create much-needed economic opportunities for many and is wonderful way to do something good for our planet and the people of Haiti.”The new initiative’s four main objectives are: to re-forest Haiti; provide sustainable livelihoods to farmers; and over the long term help mitigate Haiti’s dependency on food imports; and help identify alternative fuel sources to reduce usage of charcoal. To ensure that the benefits of re-forestation are lasting and durable, Haiti Forest will empower micro-entrepreneurs and local communities to preserve and maintain their country’s forests. The announcement marks the beginning of a six-month planning and preparation study that will form the basis of the Haiti Forest pilot program. The study will work closely with Haitian rural communities and small holder farmers to determine what trees and crops should be planted, engage community leaders on the reforestation aspects of the project, and work with government to identify applicable land areas. The Haiti Forest partnership was created out of a recognized need to address environmental degradation and deforestation in a sustainable way. Haiti has lost virtually all of its forests over the last half-century, resulting in massive soil erosion and a consequent decline in the amount of arable land. By enabling sustainable forest management, Haiti Forest works toward providing a model to help reverse this trend.Source:PR Newswire
